Dr. Pat Brown

Author Visit Overview

My name is Dr. Patricia D. Brown. My family has always called me Pat. I live in Georgia, I was born in Philadelphia. I chose school and nursing, and did both for 30 years. I’ve written poems, short stories, and chapter books. I was excited when I published an article in the Nursing ’99 magazine. I completed my dissertation with the University of Phoenix in 2014. I have two doctorates; one in Education and the second in Curriculum Instruction. Writing has always been my first love. I have always felt connected to the creativity it requires. My inspiration was my three children. I could see the glow of imagination in their eyes with everything they touched as they played together. Each child had a look of wonder in their eyes. I asked myself, what could they see looking up from the floor that I could not see looking down on the floor? So I got down on the rug to play with them. Inches from the floor the atmosphere was different. This was a different world that opened up in ways I could barely explain. The dust scurried about as if it was running with feet. Lost, shiny coins twinkled with happy winks. The lost sock nobody could find was covered with hair and became a wave of slow worm-like movements inching along. The world is different here. Everything down here is alive. Walks! Talks! Dances! Whatever you can imagine. It’s not hidden, it’s right at your feet. Sharing these experiences with my children has made me an animated person. This wasn’t hard because I love exploring, adventures, and fun
